Use AnimatedWebs in Antigravity

Google Antigravity connects to AnimatedWebs through a serverUrl entry in mcp_config.json, which the IDE and the agy CLI both read. Antigravity needs Streamable HTTP, which is what AnimatedWebs serves.

Connects with
Streamable HTTP only, serverUrl
Sign-in
OAuth, or a headers entry
Config file
~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json

Set up AnimatedWebs in Antigravity

Server address: https://mcp.animatedwebs.com

  1. 1

    Open the config

    In the IDE, click the ... at the top of the agent side panel, choose MCP Servers, then Manage MCP Servers and View raw config. In the CLI, edit ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json directly.

  2. 2

    Add the server

    Merge this into the mcpServers object. For one project only, use .agents/mcp_config.json in that workspace.

    ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "animatedwebs": {
          "serverUrl": "https://mcp.animatedwebs.com"
        }
      }
    }
  3. 3

    Authenticate

    Servers that support dynamic client registration, as AnimatedWebs does, need no extra OAuth settings. Open Agent settings, then Customizations, click Authenticate and complete the sign-in.

  4. 4

    Reload and ask

    Reload the config from the MCP Servers panel in the app, or from the /mcp overlay in agy, which can reload configs. Then ask for a template.

Headless or CI? Use an API key from your dashboard instead of the browser sign-in.

Check that it works

  • In agy, type /mcp and press Enter. The MCP Manager overlay shows a status ring for each server, plus a way to reload the config and inspect connection logs.
  • Ask it to run the get_account tool from the animatedwebs server. A reply with your plan and today's usage means the connection and your sign-in both work.

Three requests to try

Paste one into Antigravity. Each one makes it call real AnimatedWebs tools.

example prompt 1
Use animatedwebs to find a template for an independent bookstore and build it in this folder.
example prompt 2
Search animatedwebs for a WebGL hero background, then show me the prompt for the closest match.
example prompt 3
List the animatedwebs template categories and recommend one for a boutique law firm.

If something goes wrong in Antigravity

The server stays disconnected
Use serverUrl (or url) with a Streamable HTTP address. The docs say the httpUrl field and the legacy HTTP+SSE transport are not supported.
A tool call times out
The default limits are 5 minutes to connect and 3 minutes per tool call. Set timeoutSeconds on the server to change both.
You need to pause the server
Set disabled to true on its entry instead of deleting it.
Your old setup used a different path
Google's pages have used more than one path over time. Antigravity's MCP page lists ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json for the IDE and CLI; use the View raw config button if you are unsure.

Questions about Antigravity and AnimatedWebs

Is Antigravity CLI the same as Gemini CLI?+

No. Google's notice says Antigravity CLI replaced Gemini CLI for unpaid tier and Google One users on June 18, 2026. If you still use Gemini CLI, see its separate guide.

What command starts the CLI?+

agy. Google's getting-started page says it launches the interactive terminal UI in the current directory.

Where are OAuth tokens stored?+

In ~/.gemini/antigravity/mcp_oauth_tokens.json, according to the Antigravity MCP page. Expired tokens refresh automatically.

Can I use an API key?+

Yes. Add a headers object with Authorization set to Bearer and your aw_ key next to serverUrl.
