Use AnimatedWebs in Reges Code
Reges Code is a free, local-first AI code editor for Windows, and the AnimatedWebs MCP server is built into it. Add your AnimatedWebs API key to the Reges Code MCP config once and the editor can search templates and fetch build prompts.
- Connects with
- Streamable HTTP, API key header
- Sign-in
- API key from your dashboard (free accounts have one)
- Config file
- ~/.reges-code/mcp.json
Set up AnimatedWebs in Reges Code
Server address: https://mcp.animatedwebs.com
- 1
Install Reges Code
Download the Windows build from regescode.com. AnimatedWebs comes pre-installed, so you only need to add your key.
- 2
Copy your API key
Open the developer page of your AnimatedWebs dashboard and copy the key that starts with aw_. Every account has one, free accounts included.
- 3
Add the key to the MCP config
Open mcp.json in the .reges-code folder of your user profile and use this entry, with your own key in place of aw_your_key.
Reges Code MCP config: ~/.reges-code/mcp.json{ "mcpServers": { "animatedwebs": { "url": "https://mcp.animatedwebs.com", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer aw_your_key" } } } } - 4
Ask for a template
Open a project in Reges Code and ask for a design. The editor calls the AnimatedWebs tools and pulls the build prompt.
Your API key is on the developer page of your dashboard. Every account has one, free accounts included.
Check that it works
- Ask it to run the get_account tool from the animatedwebs server. A reply with your plan and today's usage means the connection and your sign-in both work.
- If the server is missing from the tool list, check that mcp.json is valid JSON and that the Authorization value starts with Bearer followed by a space.
Three requests to try
Paste one into Reges Code. Each one makes it call real AnimatedWebs tools.
Use animatedwebs to find a scroll-driven template for a coffee roaster and build it in this folder.Search animatedwebs for a dark hero with a WebGL background and show me three options before you build.Get the style reference for a Stripe-like site from animatedwebs and apply its colors and type scale to this page.If something goes wrong in Reges Code
- The server returns 401
- The key is missing, mistyped or has a line break in it. Copy it again from the developer page of your dashboard and keep the Bearer prefix.
- The edit does not show up
- mcp.json must be valid JSON. A trailing comma after the animatedwebs entry is the usual cause. Restart Reges Code after saving.
- A Pro prompt will not open
- Free accounts open every free prompt. Pro prompts need a Pro or Lifetime plan, or a Prompt Pack credit, on the account that owns the key.
Questions about Reges Code and AnimatedWebs

regescode.com says it is free while in beta, and local-first. The AnimatedWebs side is free for free templates and needs a paid plan only for Pro prompts.
Where do I get the key?+
In your AnimatedWebs dashboard, on the developer page. Create an account first if you do not have one; it is free.
